A Family Album explores ideas of family photographic portraiture in the early 20th Century when images were either created in studios or outside. Studio portraits generally included a ‘landscape’ backdrop and a piece of some domestic furniture. For outdoor portraits pieces of the sitter’s furniture was brought out to create a ‘domestic’ space in the backyard. The work shown here draws on the conflation of the resulting constructed spaces between inside/outside and is created by fusing traditional and digital collage techniques. |
